Top officials of two ministries visit flyover construction

The Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication in collaboration with President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government have today conducted a site visit to all areas surrounding the ongoing infrastructure development of flyovers at Ubungo intersection in Dar es Salaam and DART project Phase III.

Accompanied by engineers from Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), municipal directors and officials from Dar Rapid Transit (DART) Agency, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication, Eng. Joseph Nyamhanga, went through all construction sites of Ubungo flyovers in order to familiarize themselves with the ongoing construction and find out whether there are hurdles that might stall the works progress.

Briefing on the project progress to the Permanent Secretary, the consultant to the project, Resident Engineer Eric Chatwin, said the works at the site started on May 22, 2017 with ground level roadworks followed by relocation of utilities such as water pipes, gas pipes, and electrical cables, to mention a few.

Eng. Chatwin also said that the commencement of every step of infrastructure development in this project depends on permission from the government through TANROADS.

The project which costs about 177.425/- billion is planned to be complete after 30 months of its commencement. However, the Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication, Eng. Joseph Nyamhanga, insisted that the contractor should complete all the works of the project in less than the time allocated in the timetable.
